Symposia Guidelines
Society and Non-Academic Organisation Symposium Proposal
Rules, Regulations and Guidelines
National and international societies, Foundations and workgroups with purposes related to TERMIS aims are welcome to submit a symposium proposal. Proposals with educational, career development and societal impact are welcomed.
If you are interested in submitting a symposium proposal, please complete the online form here by the 6th September 2022. Proposers will be notified by email in September 2022.
Society symposia proposers can choose from two formats:
- A keynote speaker and up to three additional invited speakers (chosen by symposium organizers) and a minimum of 10 minutes discussion (90 minutes symposium in total). The symposium organizers can divide the 80 mins speaking time for the 4 presenters as they desire. Wherever possible, symposium organizers should provide written confirmation from their Keynote Speaker that they will pay to register and plan to attend the meeting.
- A keynote speaker with additional talks selected from submitted abstracts by the symposium organizers. The symposia organizers will be asked to shortlist abstracts for their symposium session from those reviewed and ranked as suitable for an oral presentation.
Each symposium should have a proposer who will also be responsible for selection and confirmation of the keynote/invited speakers. The proposer should be active as either the Chair or Co-Chair (the co-chair should be a young investigator and if the proposer does not know one in the field, this can be left blank for the SYIS committee to suggest one). In this case Young Investigators defined as persons who are either full-time graduates (PhD or Masters) or have been awarded their doctoral degree within the past 3 years and who are not holding an appointment as a faculty or academic staff in a university/research institute.
Due to budget constraints, TERMIS EU 2023 will not provide financial support to symposium chairs and keynote/invited speakers, who will all be expected to pay for registration to the conference. The Symposium Organisers are encouraged to find sponsors to support registration and/or travel of the speakers/organizers. Sponsors will be able to promote their company by way of advertising material as part of the symposium. For the society symposia, we highly recommend the society helps with the sponsorship of their keynote and invited speakers.
A maximum of 30 symposia will be organised. These will be chosen from submitted proposals at the organisers discretion. There will not be an opportunity to merge symposia or appeal the organisers decision.
Invited speakers must be independent principal investigators from academia, industry, clinical or governmental organisation. Only one podium presentation is allowed per registered participant.
The symposium chairs confirm that they will register and pay to attend the conference and chair the symposium, should it be accepted. All symposium participants must register and pay to attend the conference.
We expect the symposia to be highly competitive. The society symposia proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
- relevance to the conference theme ‘Broadening the Targets and Approaches for Regenerative Medicine’
- current scientific impact of the symposium theme proposed
- educational value
